Since discovering Tweeny’s pottery not only have I found a new passion but also a new family. The pottery is such a welcoming place to be creative and there is nothing better after a long day’s work than having a cup of tea with friends over a piece of clay.

I had an idea, inspired by a potter in Totness. I really wanted to have a go and at Tweeny’s pottery I managed to recreate my ideas-but with my own twist- I had lots of encouragement and suggestions in a really relaxed friendly and encouraging environment, even if it turns out different to what I intended. Everything I try is ‘ok’ and I never feel that I am ‘doing anything wrong’ I love, love, love it.

Learning, making and creating with these lovely people means so so much to me. This is such a special, uplifting place. I’m really thankful that I have this pottery on my doorstep.

Before discovering pottery, I didn’t use to think of myself as creative. Exploring what I would do with and through clay has helped me to rest, relax, and reset mentally and physically. Tweeny and her team are fantastic at guiding me to discover what I have been eager to create. There’s such a wide range of things I can make now: from gravy boats to jugs, a bust of my cat to a miniature of my house! I even brought my partner to make animal sculptures (see the puffins!).
P.s. the gluggle jug I’m making in the photo really gluggles!

I found the Pottery at a time that I was struggling with some big life changes. Tweeny and her team have been so kind and welcoming, accommodating my health needs and making me feel at home while learning new skills. I’ve made wonderful friends, I’ve made some pieces I am proud of, and most of all I always come away feeling happy and grounded. There aren’t very many places where you can bring both tears and laughter and feel equally held, the Pottery is one of them.

A few years ago, I was struggling with a significant bereavement. I felt lost, without direction, and was searching for something that might help me reconnect with life again.
By chance, I saw an advert for pottery classes and decided to give it a try. I had always loved the idea of working with clay but had never had the opportunity to experience it for myself. I joined a beginners' class and, by Christmas, I was completely hooked.
More than four years later, I am still attending classes and still striving to create something I can proudly show my family. There is something incredibly therapeutic about placing your hands into clay, moulding and shaping it into something unique. The process of creating, glazing, and then waiting for the final firing—never quite knowing how it will turn out—remains exciting every time.
Tweeny is an amazingly talented and empowering teacher who encourages everyone to believe they can achieve more than they think. The group itself is warm, welcoming, and supportive, with plenty of laughter along the way. The tea and cake are pretty wonderful too!
Pottery has given me much more than a hobby. It has provided friendship, creativity, purpose, and a space away from the complexities and pressures of everyday life. It reminds me to slow down, be present, and enjoy the process rather than focus solely on the outcome. Joining the class was one of the best decisions I have made.

I love coming to the pottery because sometimes, you've just got to make something. Bad day? Make something. Need to find some headspace? Use your hands and make something. Sometimes just the act of getting your hands dirty and making something is enough. It's joyful and creative -- a bit like the pottery itself.

The Pottery and Tweeny….. My little bit of sanity where I can create, and enjoy a chat and laugh, with like-minded people.
I attend clay station at the Pottery Saltash. I love the time I spend there. The atmosphere is so relaxed and inspiring. The space is large and yet feels intimate and comfortable. There is tea and cakes and a fridge and a lovely toilet !
Doing pottery is my absolute favourite creative time. It is so therapeutic to work with clay with other like minded people. Tweeny is so helpful and skilled. I can lose myself when I am making something and the stresses of life go away. Then there is the excitement of seeing a finished piece, not knowing how the glazing has worked until it comes out of the kiln.
One of the best parts of my week.
