Join us on a Monday evening for 10 weeks from 6pm till 9pm.

What to expect, Each class is run by a professional ceramicist and teacher.

Week 1 - You will be given a full induction into The Pottery. You will learn to shape clay, then practice at least 3 different decorative techniques using slips.

Week 2 and 3 - There will be an introduction into glazing. You will create a tall narrow structure using templates and slab technique. You will be challenged to apply one of the decorative techniques learnt in week 1.‍ ‍

Week 4 and 5-Your tutor will discuss design ideas to enable you to create and explore the arts of coiling, pinching and sculpture. You will glaze all work created so far. ‍ ‍

Week 5 and 6 - You will explore throwing on the potters wheel. Please remember that this is not a throwing course. To learn to throw can take many weeks and we would recommend that you join our Tuesday evening course.

Week 7,8and 9- Through discussion with your tutor you will plan and create a personal project.‍

Week 10 - Glazing

Start date: 7th September

Time -  6:00pm until  9pm

This Monday evening course will run on bank holidays and during half term. You can make up, up to two sessions if you need to miss sessions for any reason. Please note that ‘make up’ sessions are generally seen as self study.

Extra information: Parking is free, or the number 12 bus, stops near Waitrose.  You are then only 3 minutes away.  Tea, Coffee, apples and biscuits are always available if you are coming straight from work.

Students will have a generous clay allowance for the first 6 weeks. Personal projects will be weighed and charged at cost to The Pottery.

We must stress that this is not a throwing course. Please join our Tuesday afternoon or evening class if you would like to develop and perfect your throwing.
