Lets Make Bowls

Join us for a three-evening adventure making wheel-thrown bowls, 6pm - 9pm

Monday 17th August— Demonstrations and guided practice to help you refine forming on the potter’s wheel. You’ll learn to recycle your clay so you can keep practising until you achieve the bowl shape you want, with individual feedback to build confidence.

Tuesday 18th August — Focus on turning to finish bowls to a professional standard. You’ll develop clean foot rings, practise secure , and experiment with surface marks to personalise your pieces.

Wednesday 19th August — We will continue to work on the wheel for the first hour of the session. After that, it’s all about colour and refinement. Using slips and underglazes you will explore surface decoration and apply these techniques thoughtfully to your bowls, learning colour placement and application methods that suit your style.

Classes are limited to six people; each person has a wheel. At the end of the sessions you may choose up to four bowls to be fired; any extra bowls may incur a small charge to help cover materials and electricity.

Finished pieces are ready for collection from the pottery in about three weeks, or can be posted for an additional fee.

This course is ideal (but not essential) if you have had some throwing experience.
